This project is about the analysis of the ‘Lunéville embroidery’ (‘Crochet de Lunéville’/ ‘Tambour Beading’) a French Haute Couture technique used to attach beads and sequins to fabric using a specialized needle-hook.
I decided to explore this technique around the structured patterns of the flowerbeds at the ‘Palace of Versailles’ in France. I experimented the different embroidery stitches through the flower designs and arabesques.
Flowerbeds usually imitate embroidery with their flowers, box-trees and bushes.
Below are showed embroideries with traditional materials such as beads, sequins, threads… But in this project, I also explored materials that are not normally used in embroidery such as bigger materials like candy, straws, joints and mussel shells...
